Weekends are often synonymous with relaxation and leisure, but for car enthusiasts, they can also be an opportunity to embark on exciting projects. Recently, we undertook a thrilling endeavor: fitting a Maxload Air Suspension system into a 2013 Audi A6 wagon. What made this project unique was the added challenge of creating a hidden boot to accommodate the management system, air tank, and compressor, allowing the owner to retain the functionality of the wagon's boot space. Join us as we dive into the details of this innovative modification.

The Audi A6 wagon is renowned for its spacious boot, perfect for accommodating luggage, groceries, or any other cargo one might need to transport. However, integrating an air suspension system while preserving this functionality presented a significant challenge. Traditional installations often occupy valuable boot space, limiting practicality. To address this challenge, we devised a solution that involved building a hidden boot within the spare wheel bay. This ingenious design allowed us to house the management system, air tank, and compressor without encroaching on the primary boot space. By utilizing this underutilized area, we were able to maintain the wagon's practicality while enhancing its performance and versatility.
The installation process began by meticulously planning the layout of the components within the spare wheel bay. Precision was crucial to ensure that each element fit seamlessly and functioned optimally. Once the layout was finalized, we proceeded to install the Maxload Air Suspension system, meticulously routing the necessary hoses and wires to connect all the components.
One of the key aspects of this installation was the integration of the air tank and compressor into the spare wheel well. This involved custom fabrication to create a secure and discreet enclosure that would not compromise the structural integrity of the vehicle. Additionally, we installed a management system that allowed the owner to adjust the ride height and stiffness of the suspension with ease.

After the installation was complete, thorough testing and calibration were conducted to ensure that the air suspension system operated flawlessly. We fine-tuned the settings to achieve the perfect balance between comfort and performance, taking into account the Audi A6 wagon's weight distribution and handling characteristics. The result of our weekend project was a 2013 Audi A6 wagon equipped with a cutting-edge Maxload Air Suspension system, seamlessly integrated into a hidden boot. Despite the additional components, the wagon retained its spacious and practical boot space, allowing the owner to continue using it as intended. Furthermore, the adjustable air suspension provided enhanced ride quality, improved handling, and the ability to adjust ride height to suit various driving conditions.
